This Electric 2011 Jaguar XJ would 47 mpg’s and under 120 g/km of carbon emissions. It does so with a 145kW electric motor (194 horsepower) and a 1.2L 3-cylinder engine keeping it charged on longer drives (up to 600 miles). That backup engine is courtesy of a partnership with Lotus, who will provide their expertise with light, powerful engines to Jaguar in the production of this electric steed.
Will the Electric 2011 Jaguar XJ actually see production for a 2011 release? It’s a little late in the game to suggest that, but we may see an electric concept by the Geneva Motor Show next month, if not in the near future. The 2011 Ford Fiesta makes its U.S. debut after being sold in other markets for a couple of years. This subcompact car comes as a 4-door hatchback or a 4-door sedan. Hatchbacks are offered in SE and SES trim levels, while sedans come in S, SE, and SEL versions. This is a concept of a new and upcoming Honda CR-Z which wil actually be yet another Hybrid… I’m not saying I’m not all for alternative car fuels or hybrid cars, but come on guys — not every single new car you guys make HAS to be a Hybrid, is it?
Oh well, it looks great (just like most of the new Honda’s) and I hope they make a non-hybrid non-diesel version. :p

There are some car manufacturers that rest on their laurels and then there are some who strive to take their successful car to greater heights. They never rest on their laurels and go as far as trying to improve the quality and build of the car by as much as a factor of 10. It takes a lot of courage to even think about this, far less attempt it, but this is exactly what the engineers at Honda have been doing, and doing it quite successfully too.
More than a decade has passed since the Civic manufactured by Honda has made its debut and this car had set the subcompact segment on fire due to its comfortable cabins, driving comfort, efficiency and quality. The Civic is listed among the top five among the best selling cars and this should have satisfied the engineers at Honda, but no. They are determined to make this car even better and keeping this in mind the engineers of Honda in Ohio and at Japan are leaving no stones unturned to improve the quality of the Civic.

2011 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe

After a few month hiatus, our spy photographers have once again caught up with the CL-replacing S-Class Coupe. The big two-door was spotted with virtually no camouflage, giving us our best look to date. The CL’s name change falls in line with Mercedes’ new naming scheme, which also included the E-Class Coupe.
Also included with the CL’s name change will be a mid-cycle refresh. New features will include LED daytime headlights and, possibly, LED taillamps as well. A newly designed front bumper is also hinted in these photos, and the AMG versions will sport a more aggressive look.
Upfront, the updated grille doesn’t look as quite slanted as the current CL grille, and will now will have fewer chrome bars across it, giving more prominence to the Mercedes badge sitting in the middle.
Overall, the debut of the S-Class nomenclature is really nothing more than a standard mid-cycle refresh combined with a name change – expect the same basic car currently available under the CL-Class naming structure.
Underhood, we expect the CL’s engine offerings to largely remain unchanged, starting with a 5.5-liter 382 hp V8, and topped with a 604 horsepower 6.0-liter V12 with the S-Class 65 AMG.

Unveiled: 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet

STUTTGART, Germany — Mercedes-Benz officially launched its new 2011 E-Class cabriolet today, an all-new drop top that was first spotted in full production form earlier this fall on the set of the upcoming Sex and the City movie sequel.On sale in May 2010, the rear-wheel-drive cabriolet is identical in size to the 2010 E-Class Coupe and matches the coupe’s engine options: a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque for the E350 cabriolet and a 382-hp 5.5-liter V8 with 391 lb-ft for the E550 cab.
While the BMW 3 Series, Infiniti G37 and Lexus IS have moved to retractable hardtops for their current models, Mercedes has elected to use a 0.9-inch-thick fabric roof for the E-Class convertible. Waterproof and windproof, Mercedes says the top can be “put through an automatic car wash without any hesitation.”
When open-air motoring is desired, the cabriolet roof folds into a special compartment behind the rear seat panel. A retractable cover separates the soft top compartment from the trunk area, and it must be closed in order to stow the roof. When the roof is closed, the cover can be slid rearwards, and trunk capacity increased by 3.17 cubic feet to 13.8 cubic feet. The E-Class coupe offers 15.9 cubes. A pass-through loading feature is included as standard equipment for the new cabriolet, as is Easy-Entry — a manually operated entry and exit aid for the rear passengers.
Passengers are also likely to appreciate Mercedes’ new AirCap, a feature that consists of two components: a wind deflector that extends from the top of the windshield by 2.4 inches and a draft-stop between the rear seats. AirCap reduces the draft at speeds up to 100 mph, making passengers more comfortable and able to hear each other talk when the top is down. Also present is Mercedes’ Airscarf, a feature first introduced on the SL roadster, which shoots warm air around the neck through directable outlets in the front passengers’ head restraints.

Defining the sport sedan category over the years, the 3-Series has set the benchmark for every other luxury car maker ranging from Alfa Romeo to Volvo.
Also it’s the best selling car in BMW’s range. That’s the sole reason why the Bavarians have been so tentative with the styling of all 3-Series models. Either you like them or not, design-wise, the latest 5-Series and 7-Series sedans performed a major styling departure from their predecessors. And between us, the current 3-Series sedan is undoubtedly the most boringly styled car in BMW’s range. Take out the Hofmeister kink, the BMW kidney grille and this could a Mitsubishi.
But that’s about to change in the 6th-gen 3 Series that’s expected to pop-up in the automotive scene in 2011-2012. The info we’ve got coincides with Automotorundsport’s latest CGI of the future 3-Series that draws its inspiration from the impressive CS Concept. AMS’s 3-Series rendering actually looks quite sportier and sexier than the 5.1-meter long concept thanks to the cars more compact dimensions. Maybe it’s a bit too early for any final conclusions concerning the design-road BMW’s taking for the next 3-Series, but dreaming never hurt anybody.

Toyota's media reception this evening, new Toyota USA President Jim Lentz revealed the company's latest concept, the A-BAT hybrid pickup. We first saw pics of the new concept a couple of weeks ago but in person it is quite a bit more striking. Given how much "small" trucks have grown over the past two decades it was quite refreshing to see such a small truck on display. The extended cab unit body design actually looks quite sharp in person and the flexibility afforded by the Chevy Avalanche like mid-gate makes it actually useful for hauling decent sized loads, as long as they aren't too heavy. With both the tailgate and mid-gate folded the A-BAT has an eight foot bed with four feet between the side walls.

BYD, China's biggest battery maker, isn't wasting any time carving its niche in the new world of electric cars and plug-in hybrids. It all started with the F6DM plug-in hybrid sedan, followed by the smaller and less expensive F3DM plug-in hybrid compact car.Now BYD has introduced its E6 electric car at the Beijing International Auto Show. It takes the shape of a crossover, or MPV, and will be built on on the F6's platform (same as the F6DM, which could be sold in Europe by 2010).

So far, all we know is that the E6 will be a 5 seater with an acceleration of 0 to 100 kph of around 10 seconds. Top speed should be top speed of 160 kph (100 mph), and the battery pack, which is located under the rear passenger seats, will be based on BYD's own lithium-ion iron phosphate technology. Range per charge is expected to be 300 km (186 miles).
But most impressive of all:
"BYD projected the battery had a life of 2,000 cycles, for a lifetime range of about 600,000 km (373,000 miles)"
Wow! Even if thats just half true, it's still pretty good.
Charging of the battery will take the night with 220V, but the E6 electric car can also take a fast charge that can bring the battery to 80% SOC in about 15 minutes.
BYD says that it could start producing the E6 within two years. Another one to follow.
Super Car: Tesla Roadster unveiled

Tesla Motors unveiled their uber-chic Roadster, a powerful electric vehicle that looks, feels and drives like many other high-end sports cars Wednesday night. The main difference is the noise. Powered by a 3-phase, 4-pole AC induction motor, the Roadster can go 130 mph and does 0-60 in about 4 seconds, all completely silent.
Tonight was the grand unveiling of the Roadster in a decorated airport hangar in Santa Monica, CA. I don't ride in many sports cars, and I certainly have never been in one that zips across an airport's tarmac without so much as a whisper. But tonight I got a quick ride in the Roadster and all I could hear from the passenger's seat (not even Gov. Schwarzenegger, who flew in for a brief look at the car, was allowed to drive it) was wind noise. And myself saying "Wow" under my breath.
The car is low to the ground, and smooth in all possible ways. But this vehicle isn't just a sports car. It's also a green car. There are zero tailpipe emissions. There isn't even a tailpipe. Tesla Motors is working to provide purchasers with a photovoltaic panel that will turn the driving experience into an actual net producer of energy, according to Tesla Motors chairman Elon Musk.
